Natural Selection Simulation

Today, you'll be conducting a virtual lab that investigates a simple simulation of Natural Selection. You'll access a handout HERE that you and a partner will complete as you work through the online investigation. Please make sure that all your answers are on a separate sheet of paper, numbered correctly, and in complete sentences.


Step 1: Go HERE

Step 2: Click on the “Enroll in a Class” button in the upper right hand corner of the web page.

Step 3: Type in my class code: Given to you in class

Click “Continue” and follow the directions on the site to complete your enrollment.

Step 4: Make your username and password as follows:

USERNAME = firstnamelastname873
PASSWORD = your student ID#

Congratulations! Now that you’re enrolled, you can login anytime using just your username and password (no class code required).

Step 5: Find the "Evolution: Mutation and Selection" Gizmo and click "Launch"

Genetics Homework Punnett Squares

1. Go HERE to access your Punnett Square worksheet.
2. Complete your answers on a separate sheet of paper (or print it out)and be ready to turn it in next class.
3. Please write down the genotypes of the parents for each cross.
4. Make sure you include the genotypic and phenotypic ratios for each problem.
5. Use the shortcuts if you know them! It saves lots of time!
6. Don't do the concept map at the end.
